🎙️ Join us for the Neighborhood Accelerator Cohort 2 Story Slam this ThursdayCurious what we've been up to in the Neighborhood Accelerator Program? We just wrapped up the second cohort and are hosting a "demo day" style storytelling event to celebrate all of the progress folks in the program have made. Join us this Thursday to hear raw, heartfelt stories from neighborhood stewards who spent the last 10 weeks bringing neighbors together, creating new traditions, and building the kind of neighborhoods many of us dream of living in. Bring the energy and celebrate the heck out of these folks. Cowbells and party hats highly encouraged. 😏
🗳️ The Neighborhood Accelerator Governance Proposal PassedLast week, members of the DAO voted to approve Savannah Kruger's Neighborhood Accelerator Program Proposal, renewing the accelerator program for the next year. You can view the vote here. DAO members representing 108K ₡ABIN voted, making it one of the best voter turnouts we've seen. Shoutout to Grin for building cabin.city/vote so that non-crypto native folks can vote on proposals without needing external wallets! Congrats to Savannah, Shani, and everyone involved in the program. And a big thanks to everyone who voted for caring enough to engage in the process! We will be distributing "I voted" stamps to your Census profiles to celebrate everyone who voted. You can also see several additional upcoming governance proposals on the forum here.
🏝️ Christine's Community Building Adventures at PrósperaOver the last few months, Christine Urban turned a 14-story tower in a special economic zone in the Honduran jungle into a thriving neighborhood community. Through many many small and big actions like coordinating grocery runs and hosting (many) sunset gatherings, she wove together a resilient community of digital nomads. They even raised $1,100 in 24 hours when a local family's home burned down. Check out her article to see what it's like building a neighborhood in the jungle.
📸 Celebrate Wins in Cabin Neighborhoods - Follow us on InstaLaura Carlson in San Francisco's Noe Valley hosted her first neighborhood social hour and it went swimmingly! About 30 neighbors gathered on the sidewalk and the evening took on a life of its own — from kids decorating pumpkins to an impromptu wine tasting as neighbors kept arriving with bottles to share. Here's Laura on the beautiful mix of styles that emerged: "Some people showed up with a half-finished beer in their hand, one family showed up with two quiches, and fancy champagne with a dozen glass flutes! Once people arrived and settled in, everyone appreciated what it was." Go Laura! Do you want to stay updated with what is happening in neighborhoods like Laura's, beyond these monthly newsletters? 🏘️ The Neighborhood Accelerator Cohort 3 Application is officially open
Ready to turn your neighborhood into a thriving community? The next cohort of the Neighborhood Accelerator Program kicks off February 17th, 2025. Over 10 weeks, you'll join an intimate group of 8-12 passionate community builders to learn the practical skills and mindsets that transform loose groups of neighbors into real communities that look out for each other. Then we'll get to work and build the neighborhoods we want to belong to.
